A city in Sri Lanka’s Central Province’s hill country is called Nuwara Eliya. Its name translates to “city of light” or “city on the plain (table land)”. The city, which has a gorgeous environment and a temperate temperature, serves as the administrative center of the Nuwara Eliya District. It is thought to be the most significant area for tea production in Sri Lanka and is located there, at an elevation of 1,868 m (6,128 ft). The tallest peak in Sri Lanka, Pidurutalagala, guards above the city. The coolest region in Sri Lanka is Nuwara Eliya, which is recognized for its moderate climate.

01. Horton Plains National Park

 

The famous Horton Plains is a nature reserve with a beautiful landscape of hills, woodland and pastures. 02. Lake Gregory

06. Moon Plains

Moon Plains, also known as Sandathanne, was just recently made accessible to the general public in 2014 and has since quickly risen to the top of travelers’ favorite biodiversity destinations. It was once a waste dump area that has now been transformed into a park. Six kilometers separate Moon Plains from Nuwara Eliya’s main city.

07. Adam’s Peak

A historic pilgrimage site known as Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak has historically drawn tens of thousands of travelers of all faiths. This peak is conical in shape and rises 7,360 feet (2,250 meters) over the neighboring mountain ranges.Elephants, leopards, and many other species, including many indigenous species, can be found in the area along the mountain, which is a wildlife reserve.

08. Bomburu Ella Waterfall

The Bomburuella Waterfall is located in Perawella, close to the boundary between the districts of Nuwara Eliya and Badulla. It is also referred to as “Perawalla Falls” and is 50 meters high. It is the largest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is made up of a number of smaller waterfalls that are congregated.It’s the perfect place to unwind, have a picnic, and take a bath if you like. By order of the Sri Lankan government, camping is not permitted at this location. In addition to being used for irrigation, the Waters of Bomburuella cascade has been channeled to a nearby power plant.

09. Visit a Strawberry Farm

Nuwara Eliya is known as the strawberry capital of Sri Lanka.There are a lot of strawberry farms that you can visit on the outskirts of Nuwara Eliya. You can pick fresh strawberries at these farms, go on a farm tour, or even have a strawberry milkshake or dessert.




10. Single Tree Hill

Single Tree has been a thing since the beginning of time. From the peak of this mountain, one can watch the sun rising beautifully. takes about 90 minutes to reach the top and is located 6890 feet above mean sea level. The ideal place to view Nuwara Eliya’s and the Haggala Mountain range’s splendor is Single Tree hill. The breathtaking views over the entire Nuwara Eliya Town, including other mountains like the Piduruthalagala and Haggala mountains, are unveiled by Single Tree Mountain.
