Kalpitiya is located at the border of the dry zone. Kalpitiya is on the north west coast of Sri Lanka on the Puttalam Pennisula. Three hours drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and four hours drive from the capital, Colombo. Kalpitiya has a lovely vibe far away from mass tourism. Thanks to that it is still nicely green but has much less rain than the south of Sri Lanka. Summer season (May to October) is the best time for kitesurfing in Kalpitiya. The wind averages 18-20 knots during the summer season. In winter season you can experience kitesurfing in afternoon winds. 

Kalpitiya is a paradise for kitesurfers. Also it is a better place for Dolphine lovers. You can have a boat ride to Indian ocean by Kalpitiya & have a close look at those amazing creatures of mother nature.
