Located on the east coast of the island overlooking the Trincomalee Harbour. Trincomalee has been one of the main centres of Sri Lankan Tamil language speaking culture on the island for over two millennia. Trincomalee is sacred to Sri Lankan Tamils and Hindus around the world. The city has many Hindu sites of historical importance. Trincomalee features a tropical wet and dry climate. The city features a dry season from March through June and a wet season for the remainder of the year.

The pristine and stunning Pigeon Island National Park off the coast of Nilaveli is unquestionably one of the greatest places to visit close to Trincomalee and makes for a wonderful break from the city. The national park, which consists of two tiny islands, is home to the critically endangered rock pigeons, a thriving marine ecosystem, and breathtaking rock formations. This trip will be remembered for its fine white sands, sparkling rock pools, and shallow turquoise waters, as well as the numerous snorkeling chances just off the beach.

Nilaveli is a coastal town located in Trincomalee district, Sri Lanka. It is located 16 kilometers north-west to Trincomalee city. The numbers of visitors declined following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and Sri Lankan Civil War, but have risen again since 2010.  Nilaveli is one of the most famous tourist destinations among both local & foreign travelers.
